Building NGDB.AI — the AI-native operating system for global trade
Replacing the Letter of Credit for sub-$10M trades with a commercial-card payment guarantee issued in about thirty seconds — underwritten by AI on live banking data. Three decades building payment and industrial systems, most recently for a few hundred million users at Jio.
Also co-founder and CTO of CognitiveMind.ai, a HIPAA-conscious telehealth nutrition platform live across eighteen states.

NGDB.AI — trade finance without the Letter of Credit
An AI-native operating system unifying trade finance, B2B payments, supply chain finance and credit decisioning on one platform.
Global trade is a $30 trillion market whose payment-security instrument — the documentary Letter of Credit — predates the shipping container. The guarantee is genuinely strong; the delivery mechanism is the problem.
Issuance takes days to weeks and amendments restart the clock. Fees stack across issuance, advising, confirmation, document examination and correspondent banks. Limits are collateral-driven, so the SME with excellent cash flow but a thin balance sheet is exactly who gets declined.
The result is a $2.5 trillion annual gap between the trade financing businesses request and what banks approve — concentrated almost entirely below $10 million a trade, which is where most of the world's commerce actually happens.
One trade, end to end
Illustrative, at the platform's published tier-A demonstration pricing.
The seller is paid on delivery. The buyer gets ninety days of float for a fraction of the all-in cost of an LC on the same trade — decided in seconds instead of weeks. Trades above $10M are served by a digital Letter of Credit issued in under four hours on the same platform.
AI credit engine
Real-time underwriting on consented open-banking cash-flow data — up to 24 months of history, enriched and categorized. P99 decision latency under two seconds, with SHAP attributions on 100% of decisions. No black boxes in the credit file.
Financed B2B marketplace
KYB-verified catalogues with structured tier pricing, HS codes and incoterms; three-round bounded negotiation; full FX transparency from the first page view; and supply-chain finance decided at checkout — seller paid on delivery, buyer on up to 90-day terms.
Agentic engineering
20+ production microservices — Java 21, Kafka with exactly-once semantics, PostgreSQL, Redis — built, verified and operated by an orchestrated framework of specialized AI agents under written governance, with human gates on every irreversible operation.
Standards and custody
ISO 8583, ISO 20022 pacs.008, SWIFT MT700/MT103 and UCP 600 for the digital LC lane; NACHA, SEPA Instant and UPI/IMPS/RTGS on the payment side; trade documents anchored with dual SHA-256 and SHA3-256 hashes on Hyperledger Fabric.
NGDB.AI does not disintermediate banks. It disintermediates the Letter of Credit.
The guarantee runs on regulated financial infrastructure — issuing banks, card networks, acquiring banks — and grows their commercial-card volume. Banks participate as issuing partners, as funding partners for the supply-chain-finance book, and as distribution channels offering LC-equivalent guarantees to the SME clients they previously declined. What is removed is a manual, paper-bound instrument whose economics excluded most of the market it was meant to serve.
Fractional CTO, Board Member & Technology Advisor
Kumar Kushal works as a fractional CTO, board member and technology advisor to companies building with generative AI — currently across five concurrent ventures in trade finance, digital health, B2B commerce and consumer biosensors.
Most companies adopting AI for engineering stop at autocomplete. The harder problem is running AI agents as a workforce — safely, in a regulated domain, with an audit trail a board and a examiner will accept. That is the work: turning generative AI from a productivity tool into an operating model that ships production systems. Two platforms went from concept to live, revenue-generating products in 2026 built this way, by a deliberately small human team.
Fractional CTO for Gen AI engineering
Part-time CTO for teams adopting generative AI in the delivery process itself — not pilots and demos, but shipping production software with AI agents. Sets the architecture, the governance and the verification gates, then proves it by shipping.
Agentic delivery transformation
Introduces the operating model behind NGDB.AI and CognitiveMind.ai: orchestrated specialist agents under a written constitution, decision logs, independent QA agents and human gates on irreversible operations — so a small team delivers like a large one, auditably.
Board member & founding board member
Board and founding-board roles where technology is the business: AI-native products, payments and regulated platforms. Brings Fortune Global 100 governance experience to early-stage companies.
Principal-engineer-level architecture
Hands-on architecture review and system design for payments, trade finance, marketplaces and digital health — event-driven backends, real-time credit and risk decisioning, and the compliance surface that comes with regulated money and health data.
Domains
Track record. Founding CTO of the Reliance Jio digital ecosystem, where he built the engineering organization from zero to 600+ and founded JioMoney, reaching 350M+ users. Since then, fractional and advisory technology leadership across ZilMoney, Tiller Capital, Omniyat, LifeSignals, BlinkLink and NGDM, alongside founding NGDB.AI and co-founding CognitiveMind.ai.
About Kumar Kushal

"I have spent three decades building payment systems. NGDB.AI is the first one built to serve the businesses those systems were never able to reach."
Kumar Kushal is the founder, CEO and chief architect of NGDB.AI, an AI-native operating system for global trade that replaces the Letter of Credit for sub-$10M trades with a commercial-card payment guarantee issued in about thirty seconds. The platform unifies trade finance, B2B payments, supply chain finance and credit decisioning, and is live today with an operating proof-of-concept that has been revenue-generating since April 2026.
He brings three decades of technology leadership across fintech, telecom, digital banking, e-commerce, robotics and manufacturing. As founding CTO of the Reliance Jio digital ecosystem at Fortune Global 100 Reliance Industries, he led initiatives that reshaped a significant part of India's technology landscape — founding JioMoney and Reliance Payments Bank, which had passed 350 million users by the end of his tenure and serves well over 450 million today, and building the e-commerce marketplaces behind jiomart.com and ajio.com.
That operating history is the reason NGDB.AI exists. Having built payment rails at national scale, he watched the same pattern repeat everywhere: the instrument, not the demand, was the constraint. Small and mid-size importers with excellent cash flow were declined for trade guarantees because a four-hundred-year-old documentary instrument priced them out — the $2.5 trillion trade finance gap.
He is also co-founder and CTO of CognitiveMind.ai, a HIPAA-conscious telehealth nutrition platform live since August 2026 across eighteen states, where he designed and shipped the clinical platform, the AI documentation layer and the payer credentialing and billing stack — built so the clinician keeps most of what a visit earns. The company began in 2025 as a corporate-learning programme training enterprise engineering teams in AI-assisted development, which concluded in April 2026.
He holds a B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Madras and an M.S. in Robotics with an AI focus from West Virginia University, and writes regularly on trade finance, AI-native engineering and the economics of both.

CognitiveMind.ai
Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer — telehealth nutrition
A HIPAA-conscious telehealth nutrition platform connecting patients with registered dietitians by video, built around one design principle: the clinician keeps most of what a visit earns.
Designed and shipped the full platform to production — live since August 2026 and available in eighteen states. Patients pay a flat $140 self-pay, or $0–$20 once their insurance coverage goes live. On the supply side, the founding-dietitian programme runs on transparent published revenue shares, 1099 engagement and no non-compete.
The clinical platform
Patient booking and Stripe payments, provider onboarding and KYC, scheduling, our own WebRTC video visits with TURN relay, clinical notes, secure patient–provider messaging encrypted AES-256-GCM at rest, and an admin and operations console with a full audit trail.
The AI clinical layer
An ambient scribe that transcribes the visit in real time with local-first inference, AI-drafted SOAP notes and insurance forms — CMS-1500 and EDI 837P with CPT and ICD-10 coding — under Safe-Harbor de-identification, plus a Chrome extension for provider workflows.
Credentialing and billing
A payer-credentialing module covering CAQH, Availity, NPPES and PECOS workflows with maker-checker approvals, and the eligibility integration — so the practice can contract with commercial insurers, Medicare and Medicaid as a group rather than clinician by clinician.
Go-to-market engineering
A pre-rendered SEO programme covering all 50 states and 124 metros for both patients and dietitians, first-touch attribution carried through to bookings, and outreach tooling that produced the first paying self-pay patient within weeks of launch.
Previously: corporate learning
CognitiveMind.ai began in 2025 as an education company focused on corporate learning: retraining enterprise engineering teams to work with generative AI rather than around it. Its flagship Gen AI Full Stack Development Training Program put working engineers through AI-assisted delivery on real production systems. That programme concluded in April 2026, when the company turned to healthcare.
The method outlasted the programme. The governed multi-agent framework that builds NGDB.AI — specialist agents, an independent verification agent, written decision logs, human gates on irreversible operations — is a direct descendant of that curriculum, and it is how the telehealth platform above was shipped to production by a very small team.
